Searching for tomorrow: Santo Domingo Church, 9 PM, 40 piece orchestra

A month wandering through Mexico and Guatemala to explore ancient Mayan cities on cold, arid mountains and in hot, rain forest jungles. We are Ron Croney and Andrew Dickerman, cousins who are traveling together for the first time.

Ron is an avid hiker who goes off alone into the wilds of national parks throughout the country but hasn’t backpacked through other countries.

Andrew has traversed Mexico and Guatemala many times but is attempting more strenuous trekking on this trip.

Our aim is to trek between villages at altitudes approaching 10,000 feet where the air is thin and breathing is difficult. Later we hope to journey six days on jungle paths, where no roads exist, to reach the site of El Mirador, said to have been once populated by 100,000 people.

Travel with us as we begin in Mexico City and end in Guatemala City.

Ron had to return home to deal with an unexpected problem. He was a great travel companion and we got along well, so I´ll miss him. Now I´m alone
